Network problem with PCMCIA NIC

Hello All,

I installed the PCMCIA 3.1.19 drivers on my machine. I didn't get any error messages and it seemed to go well. I installed drivers for my NETGEAR FA411 with the NETGEAR drivers from their web site. I didn't get any errors installing the drivers and followed the NETGEAR instructions.

I'm seeing a problem with the sequence that RedHat 7.0 is starting my devices. This is a PCMCIA NIC, but the network portion is starting before my PCMCIA services so I believe this is the reason the card is failing. The card beeps as expected when I insert it and remove it. Is there a way to change the sequence the services are started? It makes sense to me that the PCMCIA services would need to start before the network services for my PCMCIA NIC.

NEC 440T
Red Hat 7.0
PCMCIA 3.1.19
Kernel 2.2.16-22

Thanks,
Martin

Pcmcia NIC

Hi There
I don't know if the pcmcia service should be startet first (though it sounds like the thing to do)
It should simply come with the nessage when trying to start the eth0 (First ehternet device) reply with Delaying ethernet initialization, and then start it up when turning on the pcmcia service...
Works on my laptop when I used Mandrake (Redhat based, so they are very similar)
However have you checked that it starts up the pcmcia service????
Try typing setup in a console, in the window that appears there is a menu called system services, in which you can configure which services that should be startet during boot.......

Hope this could be any help

Peace Torp
