Network password problem
I have Suse 10 on one machine and w2k on another. Everything works fine until I try to access a file on the Suse box from the windows box. Then it wants a password. I've tried every password on my system and nothing makes it happy. What do I need to do?

What kinds of things "work fine"?
You don't mention Samba, do you have it running? |
Samba is running, I can see all of the computers on the network, I can see shared folders, I can access files on the windows box from the suse box without any problem. I just can't access files on the suse box from the windows box.

It is a users, groups thing on your Samba machine. I don't have it all figured out yet but I bet that if you set the global parameter security in your smb.conf to share it will get you going until you have time to figure out the users, groups stuff.
Let me know when you do! JP. |
Did you set up Samba user accts. & passwords on the Samba box? (In addition to the normal *nix accts.)
