in fedora 8, ethtool shows link dectected: yes, in eth0 for Realtek RTL8139/810. If i assing static IP for eth0, it accepts but it does not ping to other computers in network !!
Yes it pings to its own IP. But it dont pings to other computers in the network.
i have checked firewall and selinux, they are all disabled.
I read some of posts...some says it is due to irq mismatcd and they suggests to pass different kernel arguments like pci= noapi, biosirq.... etc. But they seems not to be working in my case. They says it is realtek network card bug and should be fixed if i use 8139too driver instead of 8139c. But i am unable to fix this problem !!!!
Thanks!! This totally solved my problem.
Windows was disabling my n/w card when it shuts down. ?????
.. and we do not need to pass any kind of kernel argument to linux kernel too!!
