Network Neighbours in LiNuX ?

Dear Fellow members and respected Seniors,

I was fedup of the 'unstable' MS Windows XP environment. So, I have installed Redhat Linux 8.0
I am trying hard to learn it and up to some extent I have been successful in that.

I am using cablenet and my cable net operator was used to give sharing on his PC containing movies songs etc. I used to find that sharing in a PC in network neighbours with its ip (Local Lan)

Now I wanted to know.. that from where in LINUX i can go and access the shared documents and files on other PCs of the network...

I hope that i will find my answer here.

Thank You

I assume that the other machines are Windows boxes. You need to look at Samba, which is used to share documents over a network with windows machines.

I hope this helps

Yeah, Redhat is about a thousand years old. I'd suggest using something a little more recent.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.

Please continue here:
