Network Is Unreachable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I am using Fedora Core 1

I access the net through a proxy server

The net works fine but every time i switch on my P.C. i have to activate my connection

Otherwise it gives the error Network Is Unreachable

After activating everything works fine but it's kind of irritating when u have to activate your

connection every time u switch on your P.C.

I might also have changed some settings earlier to remove the network from startup bcoz

earlier i was not connected to a LAN and determinig ip for eth0 took a very long time

But i have forgotten what changes i made and how to undo them

Please somebody help me out

First thing to check is to make sure that the network service is enabled in 'redhat-config-services.' If that is not checked, the network will not start on bootup.

i disagree... i think the first thing to do is learn not to post threads with obnixious and indiscriminant subjects

you might find this useful

the network service is enabled in 'redhat-config-services.'

Also, you may want to start 'redhat-config-network' and check to make sure that your eth device (probably 'eth0') is being activated on boot. Hunt around in the network config and you should find an option there.
