I have a sparc 10 that ive had for awhile and never played with. It had an external dvd drive that i gave to a friend when his drive died on him and now that im taking classes in school on linux i would like to isntall an os on it. Is there a way to install redhat or solaris unix on this box over the network? I read somewhere about being able to boot it from a tftp server, i have tftp on my laptop for doin cisco router configs at work. If anyone could help with the step by step instructions, or point me to a site that could help please let me know!!!

My suggestion would be to install debian on the sparc 10. Download and burn the net install .iso file and go from there. I say debian because I know that they have sparc support, yea redhat does but I thought it was for RHEL (correct me if I'm wrong). Also you can download Solaris 9 & 10 from Sun.com, registration required, burn the .iso files and install Solaris on the box.

As for step by step instructions, I'm sorry but thats a little out of my league. I've never played with sparc boxes before. sorry.

older redhat does, not newer redhat, ive had debian on here before... the problem is the lack of cdrom drive otherwise i would just burn the .iso files and rock.
