Network disabled
 

Hi, this is my first post. I have recently loaded linux mint 13 (Maya). I have a wired and wireless network. I can access the internet and use tranmission, and update through my direct wired connection, at the same time my network monitor shows Network Disabled. Should I ignore that or is there a command line or app that will allow me to enable my network? I didn't have this issue prior to installing Maya. Any suggestions?

Hi,

You could try removing and re-adding the network applet to see if that refreshes it. If your using the cinamon version then just right click on it and select remove. Then click the ^ button on the panel and select add/remove applet then find the network manager.

the main problem is that the Network Manager is not running. iif I go to Network connections, I am unable to make any changes.

Go into terminal and type;

If this brings it on then you'll probably need to add it to startup so it will run on boot.

Steve, first, Thank You.
I started it and I added it to my startup. Now it shows that it is enabled. After checking through the terminal "nmcli dev status" it shows that my connections are unmanaged. Why is that?
I pull up my network connections (not in terminal) and shows my connections there, never used. When I first install the operating system, it would show when they were used and when I hovered the mouse over the system tray it would show the connection and wireless signal strenghs. Why did all of this go crazy after I installed and rebooted?

I would maybe consider a re-install of the system files to see if it was a one off issue due to the installation but that would perhaps be last resort as I take it your connections are still working and its just the network programs only your having the issue with? Or you could install MATE from the software center and login to a session with it and see if it makes any difference.
