Network awareness

Hi guys,

I need to write a small client application that detects network connectivity: is connected, is it wired connection or wireless connection.

I prefer to write the application using native Linux tools and commands.

Your suggestions are most appreciated.

If you are using KDE, there's already an application that does the stuff you are after...

Its called KNemo and it can be found here.

You could have a close look at /proc/net with standard
Linux tools ...
