Post Network and ATI TV questions

Hi!

I have installed Red Hat 8.0 on my second computer which is celeron with Ati all in wonder graphic card.
questions:
1. How to configure ATI all in wonder so that i could watch TV. I'v tryed xawtv and it says /dev/video0 no such device. Is there any driver to install and how to install and configure it.

networking :
1. I have safeway network controller but dont know how to cofigure it. I've tryed some drivers on the net and compilled new kernel (folowed instructions) but it doesn't work. how to make it work

2. I' ve tryed with realtek network card but don't know how can i check if the card is properly instaled. I tryed pinging winxp comp but it says host unreachable.

From which file program automount reads at startup. which file to change to mount win98 disk at startup.

i'm new in linux so please don't write just compile new kernel and so on because i have no idea how to do it.

Thank you in advance for any help.

thanks for your quick reply !
read the link, tryed with xawtv -hwscan, -c /dev/video0, -c /dev/video/video0 all i get is "no video grabber device available".also tryed v4l-conf with above parameters with no success.Run lsmod but there is nothing about video or something like it.

Forget questions about networking i will try to solve them later, first of all i would like to watch TV.

Searched the web and found gatos
downloaded ati.2 drm-kernel and aviev, but insmod ati2.o returns an error saying that object filed was compiled with gcc ver 2. My gcc is version 3 and that this does not go together, tryed also -f switch but got the same error message. How to intstall that module??

ahh so so sorry, yes you're using one of those nasty little all-in-wonder cards. yeah, as they don't use the 878 / 848 chipset (abuot the only card in the universe that doesn't) the support is considerably less than any other card. I've hard gatos banded about with that card, but i've no experince of it at all. and naturally don't plan to get any either...

*bump*

I also have the ATI AIW 16mb 128 rage card, AGP, and BT829...

... BT829, BT829, BT829 ....

There has to be some support for it out there! I would love to get MythTV working through this thing!

Let's get some info flowing so we can take advantage of this strange but powerful card!

please don't drag up old threads, it get's very confusing to start answering a question asked 8 months ago... like i said back then, use the gatos driver for ati tv cards.
