Netscape 7 works great -Just one question?

I finally got a file to untar and INSTALL!!!! A mile stone for me mates.
But my netscape is installed in /root/usr/loca/netscape and I want to create a short cut on the desktop.
How would you do this?
THe darn thing works great except I have to five steps to get to execute.
Thanks,ikw38:Pengy: :Pengy:

right click on the "start button" on the left hand bottom, "The Red hat" icon and choose the "menu editor".
From then, you can add the menu for your netsape.
At the command field, just type the command to start the netscape with FULL PATH.

or
rightclick on desktop and choose Create New / Link to Application
from there you can choose icon, the text label and the location of executable
(usr/bin/ or usr/local/ and so on)

you said "a short-cut on the desktop" so i will reply because the guy below told you how to do a menu change.

in kde, right click, then create new, then link to application.

the settings are straightforward.

type in the name and click on the icon to change the icon picture. btw the crystal icons look hot.

go to the execute tab. then you want to type in that path that you just said before into the command line. You can even click on browse to make it easier and find the file.

you can open up another icon on the screen (right click then properties) and check how other icons are set up.

For your info .... if you install your application into /usr/bin then you dont need to enter the whole path. just type the program name. try it in a console. have a look in usr/bin then just type than program at your command prompt from any directory. something like kmail for example. you just type kmail from any directory and it loads up. you dont even need to put ./kmail!

/root should only be accessible by root. So that would mean that you can only run netscape as the root user. You should try to install it in a more general place since you don't want to constantly be root anyways.
