i am using an a7n266-vm motherboard on the nvidia chipset
I recently installed gentoo linux from stage 1 and now when i boot up i get the message

Quote:

Bringing eth0 up
Failed to bring eth0 up

ERROR: Problem starting needed services
"netmount" was not started

I have tried the drivers provided by gentoo and compiled from NVIDIA (the driver is nvnet)
does anyone know how to get my network working?

you do not provide enough info. is the network card built into the motherboard? Also doesn't nvidia makes graphic cards (i might be wrong on this one, if you have older board)? Did you install PPPoE?

Your most likely problem is that you have wrong driver assosiated with the eth0 interface. what ethernet card are you using? what does your /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernet-[your kernel] file say?

it is an NVIDIA chipset thats built into the motherboard which includes integrated graphics, sound, usb and lan
