NetMos Technology 222N-2 I/O Card (2S+1P)

Can anyone give a noob any advice on how ti install the pararell port on one of these cards in rh9 (text only mode)?

Have you tried just installing it (physically) and seeing if RedHat finds it on bootup?

If that's the card I'm thinking of, I've used it in several Windows machines and it seems like pretty generic hardware. I would expect Linux to find it during it's normal probes while booting.

Yes, it has a very easy solution. Get a distro from the 2000's, as opposed to the 1990's. Red Hat 9 is ancient. After nine, it went to Fedora Core, and now Fedora 5 is out. That would be Red Hat 14 if they kept their numbering system and name consistent.

The more difficult answer would be to recompile a new kernel onto Red Hat 9, which you can't do automatically because it is so old it is no longer supported. The support for that device was added way back in kernel 2.4.22 according to http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-L...3-09/3449.html

Seriously, we should get a sticky that just says "Red Hat 9 is old and not supported. Please don't use it."

Peace,
