Question Netgear DG632 Router works with WinXP but not linux

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use the netgear dg632 router using the usb NOT ethernet connection with linux. (This router gives you the option of connecting using either method)
I have set it up as a router (you have the option of router or modem setup) in WinXP. But am having no luck with linux.
Is it only possible to use this in linux if you have an ethernet connection?
Or can you use it with usb in linux as well?

P.S. Please don't tell me to buy an ethernet card. I am ditching this laptop for a new computer early next year and have no intention of ploughing more money into a black

Which distro have you tried it with? I've got a netgear dg834 ethernet. AFAIK the usb version should work. It might be best to use a distro which auto configures your setup. Such as Mandriva, SuSe, Fedora or something else. Or try it with Knoppix. It's a live distro which doesn't actually install, which is good at working with a wide variety of hardware.

Obviously it would probably be better if you had ethernet, but it should work. Could you try it without the router setting?

I've tried it with
suse live
mandrake move
simply mepis
In the instructions for the router it says the usb option only works with windows.
But I know to take manufacturers windows only claim with a pinch of salt.
I only bought it so that I could use it when I get rid of windows (because it was supposed to be easist to use a router with linux (allegedly)
