Netgear DG632 problem

Hi all, I've got the above modem router - but can't access the internet or even log on to the router itself (192.168.0.1) - I'm running SUSE 9.1 with KDE 3.2 - running on a HP laptop with a 3com network card.

Have previously connected to SAMBA and internet via a cross over cable to my windows box without any problems - however now I've "upgraded" to the netgear adsl modem router - I can't configure Linux properly to get on!

What have I done so far:

configured my network card (many times) and all settings are fine.
ping'd 127.0.0.1 all ok - ping'd the router - not connected message

when trying to access net message: www.google.co.uk could not be found received.

The light is not coming up on the router - apart from when I pull the pc card out and reinsert it - it's red/not working colour at this stage.

Conscious that i may not have the service enabled for direct internet connection - but equally not sure what that service is!

Any step by step help would be much appreciated so I can understand the process.

Thanks

This looks like a hardware problem with the router. Are you sure it is working properly? Did you check the cable?

Modem support page is here if you need it.
http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/DG632.asp
Try connecting the cable directly from your modem to you linux box.
