thast because netflix uses sliverlight. silverlight is not officially supported in linux as it is created and maintained by Microsoft. there are some folks who have been able to hack 32bit Linux systems to run netflix, but i have yet to be successful. not worth it. if you really need/want access to netflix inside Linux then run a VM and install win7

You need pipelight. I installed it on both Ubuntu and Linux Mint using the information at the site below and it works just fine. You do need to read through the whole page before you start entering commands so you have some understanding of what is happening. 20 minutes to install.

Uh, no. I installed pipelight on a little Acer tablet and did the test at a couple of 'silverlight test' sites then installed it on Ubuntu for a friend using the same process (from the link above) and he had a Netflix subscription and it worked. I don't have Netflix so can't test it but I tested it again a few minutes ago at the same silverlight test sights and it showed it was working:

netflix does work on debian.
The user-agent changer works great as you can see it's showing windows 7 & I'm on debian machine.
thanks yancek

How To Watch Netflix On Ubuntu with the Netflix Desktop App

I installed User Agent Switcher 0.7.3 for Firefox
choose Firefox15.0a1 Win7 64 for your User-Agent.
Code:
pipelight-plugin --enable silverlight
Test it at http://fds-team.de/pipelight/

Should do it for you.
