Unhappy net connection to ubuntu


i recently got ubuntu in a cd.cant install in my laptop as the HDD does not have enough space.
1. can i connect to the net in ubuntu even if i use it directly from cd?
2.i get my net from cable broad band.in the networking tools,in the IPv4 settings i gave the netmask, gateway.and all those stuff. what will be the domain?
3.upto doing this part, my log in page to cable net connection is opening, but when i am opening another page, its showing page reload error.
pls help me.

yes, the Live CDs are fully functional, only you can't save any documents or configurations.

Usually, you shouldn't have to enter all that stuff. Most internet providers use auto-configuration via DHCP. So you should just configure your network connection to use DHCP, and it should be fine because the important settings are probably stored in the broadband cable modem - unless your provider uses a totally different approach (from your name, I guess that you're in India, and I don't know what's common there). But then you should have received a list of configuration parametes.
Whether you use automatic (DHCP) or manual configuration, you can leave the domain field blank.

Thanks for replying. It was on auto configuration mode, but as it was not working i put it on manual mode. but i am still having the page reload problem.
