neeed help setting up a network printer on centos 5.2

Well, with the abundance of information you've provided, you'll no doubt have lots of answers soon.

However, on the off chance that we don't feel like guessing as to what KIND of printer, connected through what kind of network, etc., how about providing some actual details about what you're trying to do?

I'm trying to connect a Cannon ImageClass MF4200 via TCPIP IP address, not directly attached.

Have you installed cups and read the cups documentation?

Ok...we now know what you're trying to do, with what version/distro of Linux. Now, how about telling us where you're stuck, and what problems you're having?

As evo2 said, have you read the CUPS documentation, and installed/configured it accordingly? Did you try to Google for this? Keying in "linux imageclass mf4200" brings up things, like this complete how-to guide:

It's for Ubuntu, but the instructions are fairly generic. The drivers can be obtained at one of Canon's sites:
