Smile Need your advice - selecting a screen resolution

Hello.. I use xubuntu and by the default my screen resolution is set to bit higher so now when i open firefox, it comes in a side of the screen and when there is the second firefox window, they occupy the screen perfectly without being overlaped. It is realy good cos i didn't had such a thing in my old resolution 1280x1024.

But there is little problem with the screen, in all four sides of the display of the monitor,a stript is being not using, so i get t little viving area. I can increase it by the monitor's menu. But want to know if theres a better way.. Or do i have to switch back to my old resolution 1280x1024?

Adjusting the monitor is the right way.

The size of the picture on your monitor (Cathode Ray monitor, not LCD display) is the right way to use your full screen.

Monitors do store a setting for each combination of resolution, colors, and other factors. So when you are using a new resolution, you have to adjust the position, with, height and pincushion, etc. for a single time.

I'd stick with the resolutin that does not appear to flickr (refresh rate in Hz) and does make you read comforatble.
