Need to know difference between fedora and redhat
 

Hello Everyone,
has anyone used Fedora core1 and it will do the same function of the Redhat? i would like to use it in a training lab.

You have not done any google search, have you? If you had you would know that Fedora is in its 13th version now. FC1 is grand grand grand old daddy of all fedoras. Forget it. As for putting it in training lab, you could use it but it would not be worth. It has very short shell life. You should consider CentOS5. It is produced from the source rpms from Red Hat. So its basically RHEL without proprietary logos and trademarks. Use it instead.

Future releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux are based on current releases of Fedora; wherein Red Hat will test and stabilize a version of Fedora until its commercial grade stable and supportable.

As per the previous post; for every release of RHEL, the CentOS team clone it (as the RHEL code base is open) and their community support the clone. Thus if you want to use a free version of RHEL, consider CentOS.

If you want a cutting edge OS, that is not 100% stable/problem free, Fedora is an option.

Lastly, I see a LOT of people in this forum wrongly refer to Fedora as Fedora Core. The last version of Fedora Core was released in 2006 (Fedora Core 6).

Ever since, the word Core has been dropped; and the OS is referred to simply as Fedora {version}
