Need to find backups & download them

i have a server running centos 5 64 bit,can only log in using their recovery console thru putty,Winscp etc wont work.
i need to locate & download all my backups etc.
Easy way would be for me to backup complete server, doesnt matter how long it takes, just need my backups and sites etc.
is there any way of doing this.
Fairly new to linux and putty.

I'm not sure I completely understand, but I have a couple of ideas. If putty works, PSCP should work, too. I would give that a shot.

If all else fails and you haven't encrypted your hard drive, plug the hard drive into a different Linux PC, mount it and pull your data off that way. You could even do it in Windows, but you would need a driver for ext3 (or whatever file system you're using).
