Need to edit $PATH to include gcc
 

I am running Fedora Core 10 64 bit. I have been trying for some time to watch youtube and other type movies on my computer, but am told all the time I need to install flash 10. I downloaded the flash DVD decoder to my home directory....if that is not correct, I don't understand why. All I know is I needed to install it somewhere.

First off is there a place that type of program should be installed in Linux? Once I did that, I looked at the README file and it says to do ,/configure (then make, then make configure). When I do that I get the error:

configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

Iran:

[root@djclinux64 DVD Decoder]# find / -name gcc

and get:

/usr/libexec/gcc

Is the fix for this as simple as adding the /usr/libexec/gcc to my $PATH? Is gcc really installed on my computer?

Here is what I get when looking at the $PATH:

[root@djclinux64 DVD Decoder]# echo $PATH

/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin:/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/home/djc/bin

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a very incidental understanding of Linux....almost enough to be dangerous. Thanks.

What exactly did you download?

All I've ever had to do is download the Adobe Flash Plugin installer for Linux and make sure the contents, libflashplayer.so, get placed in the correct plugins directory.

For the correct plugins directory, see your browser specs.

Thanks frankbell.......that IS what I downloaded and I copied it into the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory and it still doesn't work. Like I said, it has a README file that says I have to do the ./configure, make and make install.
