Need to create or build a Linux database software to use my existing window base database backup

Greetings Linux newbies and experts.. First of all, I would like to thank the Ubuntu designers and debuggers team for doing a fabulous job on building such a well design OS(14.04 LTS) ... I also greatly appreciate the LinuxQuestions.org for having this powerful website for all the Linux users out there who have a few questions on there mind...

The last time i used Linux was back in 05 - (the good ole college dayz) and test drive the old Novell desktop, server software, suse desktop, server, Apacehe, and Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake).. After graduation i never thought that i will be switching over to Linux later on during the years but i did..

Im getting out of the Windows OS and gradually making the major switch for company and I..

Still using Windows 10 for now but not forever.

Im using Ubunti 14.04 LTS and have two question. Im purchased a cd software many years ago called MySoftware Proventures Invoice Software which is only compatible for win 95 on up.. This software does not work with linux .. this invoice software is for window base OS only.. I would like to know if i can buy are build a invoice database using my backup data with out using proVentures.. is it even possible to switch the database to linux..

Thanks for stopping by and im looking forward to get the database working again..

Have a great day Linux Guru's...

maybe something like open-erp is what you are looking for. i have experience with open-emr.

it mite make more sense to use something like a mysql/sqlite3 database with php web page loading and extracting data via web forms.

I know, I know, but have you tried running it under Wine?

You would have to know the structure of how the invoice data was stored in the old package's backup so that you could import it into a linux based invoice package.

If the package had an option to export the data into a standard format like comma delimited, or xls then it would be possible to import the exported data to linux.

OK

That's great to hear!

My advice is always for free. If you want, you can send a donation to your favourite free software (or, if you don't have one, FreeFileSync or Fruho which I think are both nice pieces of software but, to my shame, I have never got around to donating to).
