Need migrate ebox server to samba4, or to clone or make an image of.
Greetings... firts, sorry for my bad english..
This is my situation.... In a new company, they have an old ebox server with ubuntu hardy, Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS, Linux company 2.6.24-32-server #1 SMP Thu Jul 12 14:11:36 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux, the ebox manage the users and is like a pdc, i need to migrate it to a samba4 with debian, i have tried a lot of things but right now i don't have idea how to do it. I exported the ldap ldif, etc, the deal is that I have to use the same hardware where is the ebox to put in it the new debian server, so i got another hardware cause have in mind make a clone of the ebox system and install it on the new hardware, I used remastersys but couldn't install the iso without Graphics (xsorg, xserver), I used dd (coping the mbr to an external drive and the / system, and pasted it into the new hardware) but really don't know if I did it in the correct way, I get the how to from this link (http://www.ehow.com/how_7404094_back...er-server.html) but is not very specific. If any one have an idea how can I make it, please help me. Thanks! |

And you need to abandon your 'copy' of the old machine, period. 8.04 is VERY old. Load a new machine with the Linux distro of your choice (sounds like you want Debian), and get the LATEST version installed and configured. Since you want Samba to act as a PDC and/or AD controller on Debian, putting those terms into Google, and looking at the Samba documentation gives you: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO https://wiki.debian.org/SambaDomainController |
