If you want lists of such things, start with Google. We don't know your level of skill, or what exactly you're looking for. |

I think that one of the most important skills that an Admin will learn (especially if he is a [true ...] consulting Admin), is how to "always land 'four paws down,' no matter what."
"Every shop is different." In fact, every "shop" has a certain culture, which might have been set by someone who moved-on long ago, and which are still used today because they still  work. Or maybe "this company acquired that company which had acquired that company" and they're still using the detritus of all three. (What? You've never heard of Netware?) :D - - - Oops... better stop here. Don't want to scare the young'uns off, or we'll never be able to retire ... ;) |
Hello and welcome to LQ.
Red Hat has had some of the best documentation. Not all of it is easy to access however. Along with RH web site there are countless books and web pages. However if I were to be in charge of RH servers, I think I'd stick mostly with what RH suggests in their certification courses or other online schools. A huge security hole could be opened if one goes installing all sorts of programs on a server. Less is more. |

The job of the administrator is to mitigate the risks, and provide a balance between usability and security. That's where the skill comes in. |

I'd head over to a jobsearch site and start examining resumes for folks commensurate with RH SysAdmins. Just navigate, examining as say, an employer might. I'd take keywords and search https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...Search&search= for summaries on key concepts and new technologies. Those keywords may be of interest. :) Hope that helps. Just sayin' that's what I'd do, if it were me. Common sense and a keen eye for details and some decent search_engine.fu ---- Priceless |
