Need help with xorg.conf and Synaptic configuration

Hello all,

Running puppy linux and a little lost with it.

I am running a remix of Puppy called "MacPup" based on Puppy 4, on an old Compaq Presario Notebook. It works fine but I would like to adjust the bahavior of the Synaptic Touch Pad so that it doesnt left mouse click when I touch the Synaptic Touch Pad.

I have done the following but it has not resolved the issue:

1) did "modeprobe evdev"
2) added "modprobe evdev" to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
3) Hashed out the mouse section in xorg.conf and unhashed the Synaptics1 section.
4) Set the MaxTapTime option to zero
5) Pointed the corepointer in the serverlayout section of xorg.conf to the Synaptics1 section.
6) Restarted

Now the funny thing is, I think the Xwindows is not even using xorg.conf because in the screen section, the available resolutions are 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480. Yet Xwindows is running at 1400x1050, so how is that even possible?

I thought maybe it is running as Xvesa. If so, how do I change it to run Xorg?

Hopefully someone can help me???

TapButton1 (Integer)
Which mouse button is reported on a non-corner one-finger tap.
Set to 0 to disable.
Also look at TapButton2 and -3, and ??CornerButton

nitpick: synaptic_s_ is the touchpad thingy; synaptic (no s) is the package manager. Just so you can give a clear idea of what you want help with

It might be useful for you to post the xorg.conf file so people can inspect it. Also, look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see if there's anything interesting (look for WW and EE, mostly). If you're still stumped, post the log file along with the conf file.
