need help with vsftpd on debain
 
hi im new to linux and hopeing someone can help me.i need to get some files yo my remote server,i have installed vsftpd but now dont know how to start it.i want to access it using flash fxp from my home pc,really i need a little learning lesson to point me in the right direction.once i log into putty using root as username and then my password,i m stuck,what commands do i use to start the ftp server so i can access it.im using os:debain woody.any help i would be gratefull.

thanks for replying,do i use these commands through putty or change them useing winscp and editing the notepad file directly on my server?when using winscp i go into etc and i have found vsftpd.conf file which is note pad,do ithen put the commands i want to use in thier.or do i need to access the vsftpd.conf using putty somehow?

Dunno winscp, but, when you use putty, you are "inside" the machine you logged in, so you have to use what is inside. Emacs and vi are the most used editors, so they should be included in you linux. Emacs is easier. You only have to know ctrl+x followed by ctrl+s is save. Ctrl+x followed by ctrl+c is quit.
