need help with opening .img

Hi all,

i hope someone can help if poss.
im trying to open a firmware file (attached) the unit it came from is a small 3g router.
its linux based flash embeded thing, im trying to change some properties on the web gui but i cant write the changes as its using squashfs. so what i was thinkng is i make the changes in the firmware file(*.img) and then upgrade the firmware on the device.
i have tried to use dd to extract the file to usb, didnt work. i have tried to mount it using mtd and mtdblock0 it all mounts but there is no files in the mounted directory.......... have also tried winimage and a host of cd writing apps in winblows to no avail
can anyone shed any light ? the company wants to do the editing and charge for it.

PS the binary to unpack the firmware on device is called fwupdate.bin

heres the link to the file

There's really not much to go on in your post and the link the zip file is not much help. Frankly, I wouldn't want to click on an unknown zip.

What device is the firmware for?

Where did you get the file?

What instructions do the creators of the firmware have for installing it?

You need to meet us halfway.

"What device is the firmware for?"
i answered this in the origginal post. it a 3g router that is linux based emmbeded flash the unit is a RUT105 from a company called teltonika

"Where did you get the file?"
same link as i posted/ from the manufacturer i.e teltonika

"What instructions do the creators of the firmware have for installing it?"
as per original post i mentioned that that the manufacturer said they would do the changes for me at a price, and to upgrade the unit there is a web button to do this.

i have also stated that the linux binary that it uses on the device is fwupdate.bin (which i cant find any info and could be a bespoke app).

wehere else do i meet you as i have given you all the info i have.
