When installing a Linux OS (Operating System), it is best to connect the machine to the internet via an uninterrupted service (i.e. Ethernet cable) so any packages/drivers/software that needs to be downloaded for your hardware can be done automatically.
In addition, installing a user-friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface) based Linux Distro (like Mint), should very much be the same as to installing a Windows OS; use some common sense and click through the prompts doing the best you can.
