need help with keyboard shortcuts in beryl
hi,
i have installed fedora 7, and i have most things working now.
i downloaded and installed beryl, and can get the desktop cube, wobble windows effects working also.
i would like to use the other effects, like, rain and snow and whatever else there is.
when i try any of the combinations with the ¨super¨ key, nothing happens,
if any one has any advice or suggestions id appreaciate it.
cheers

Sure. The super key is the Windows logo key next to your Alt key, or if you are on a Mac system, its whatever the Mac equivalent key is (some funny logo right?). Sometimes, this key will need to be enabled. Add "XkbOptions” “altwin:super_win” to the keyboard section of xorg.conf. You should be good to go.

Try this to see if you key is working: go in to one of the key bindings for a specific plugin, and click on the button to change the key binding. Use the "grab key combination" feature where it picks up whatever you press. See if it recognizes the win key as your super key. If not, then we can move on to more troubleshooting.

Thanks
Hi,
i had issues this morning with the x configuration, for some unknown reason it would not load, so i decieded to do a fresh re-install. choosing correct keyboard etc at the start
once i had this done, i reinstalled the beryl software. this time i only choose the most uptodate version.
now the super key still isnt working, but its ok as i can bind the other keystrokes to make it snow, rain, etc,.....i have to say it all looks very nice!!
i think what may have been the issue before is i had a lot of conflicts with the 2 previous versions installed together.
so thanks for your help on this, at least its working now!
ps i seen on youtube, a video showing someones desktop that had a "flame" like effect, so that when you closed a window, it burned up the screen? any ideas on how to get this installed ??
Thanks Again
Damein
