Question Need help with installation

Hi all, i am new to linux and need some help.
I recently got a copy off mandrake linux 8.1 and just cant seem to install it.
The problem happens after i have booted of the cd-rom then press enter to install, after that all i get is a black screen and nothing else happens. So now i restart and press f1 for more options. I have tryed booting useing the following commands,

vgalow
expert
vgahi
and some others from the advance menu (f2)
But i still get the same problem, black screen.

I have also done what it has said in the manual and turn off PnP in the bios
and now i am confused and havent a clue what else i can try.

Btw i am also trying to install it on the same partition as windows so i can have dual os.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

So you have an original relic. You may want to acquire Mandrake 10.0 instead, anyway. The only legal and practical difference between a burned Mandrake CD and an original Mandrake CD would be the label.
