need help with graphics driver. nvidia Geforce 7900.
 

need help getting video driver for a nvidia geforce 7900. im running MEPIS and i did the synaptic update thing but ive done it twice now and both times it crashed my computer and it wouldnt connect to Xserver.

Get the drivers from there and follow the instructions?

also do it in a different run level (like 3?) where there is no x-server running?

I get mine from arch pacman repo, whereby it configures the xorg file etc. the standard ones do too i believe.

If you have the recent version of Mepis, based on Ubuntu, and not the older one based on Debian, then it is possible that the script "Envy" will work. It finds out what Nvidia card is installed, downloads and installs the correct driver. Read about it at http://lunapark6.com/?p=2717
