Exclamation need Help with everything total newb

Ok I Just spent 3 days trying to download linux Mandrake and run it. Finaly i got the installer to run, so everything is going to get easy.... WRONG . I run it and nothing is anything like windows, not that thats bad its just I dont know what to do with out a programs menu. Also when i try to download stuff it comes up as a list or when I click on it, it brings up KDE CRASH HANDLER.... What is this? so I cant install the programs I want like Wine and Lime. Wine wants something called Xmessage? But I did get this (and very happy to get it) Gaim. So I was wondering if there is anyone out there would would be nice enough to add my to their msn or aim to help me, or post.
My Msn is Eye_Seven@hotmail.com and my aim is AimEyeSeven

Thank you very much

hi

mandrakeforum.org and mandrake.com/docs should help you for a start

tldp.org has general documentation. you should read the introduction to linux guide first. If you are expecting it to be like windows you are in for a disappointment. Mandrake tries to reduce the learning curve. If you using the system to learn give it more time.

try using urpmi from the command line

for installing rpm

rpm -ivh package.rpm

post back specific doubts if you any(sure you do)

Also, be more specific about the "stuff" you're trying to d/l and install. Installation procedures vary depending on the type of file (.bin, .rpm, .tar.gz, etc.) that you've got.
