I think I got it worked out...
I had a missing pair of quotes "

that seems to have it.

I also enclosed all the functions in a big functions called initialize()

Thats the first thing that is called, so now I know all the functions are being read.

I'm burning the ISO now, I already deleted the MBR on the laptop, so its a clean machine.

If all works properly I'll be restoring it using my disk.

If it doesn't, I've still got the backup tars, I'll just have to work on the disk further.

Wish me luck!!

It was just a pair of missing quotation marks!!!

Ugh. I hate typos.

All is well. The solution is posted above, and on the first post of this thread.

Sorry, my original post said "need help" I was only trying to direct traffic to the solution. If this thread can be moved somewhere more appropriate, I'd not be upset.

If there is some way of changing the title on the original thread, I would have rather done that.

I meant no offence

If you'll notice the timelines on the original thread, I began learning bash scripting only about a week and a half ago. I guess I'm a little bit proud of myself.

I've only been using linux for about 7 months now.

A lot of this is still very very new to me.

CyberCod, I have merged your second thread back to the original one, because it looks better this way. Also, the posts are in the database, so they are searchable for anyone having a similar problem in the future. It is also clear that there's a solution, so there's no need to mark that too.
