Need help to get wi-fi working. OS-Debian
Hi there! I had Windows XP and wi-fi worked perfectly with it. Now I have Debian and like it very much but don't know how to get wi-fi working
Any help appreciated! If it makes things clearer: I have Asus Eee PC 900. Wicd Network Manager installed, but I don't know if it needs to be configured and how to do this. And iwconfig says: no wireless extensions. Thanks |
First you need to install driver for your wireless card.
In Ubuntu they install auto if they found device but in debian you need to install manually. Find drivers for linux platform, most of the wifi card provides it if not then look for ndiskwrapper. ndiskwrapper is a utility which uses windows drivers to install on linux machine. Try these steps and post if you face any difficulties. Shanim |
Take a look at DebianEeePC/HowTo/Wifi - Debian Wiki - http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC/HowTo/Wifi

Try the methods on the link in the post above, and if they do not work, please post the output of "sudo lsusb" and "sudo lspci" (without the quotes) here
