Need help setting up Red Hat 9 w/ Win 98 on Seperate drive on Computer running XP
What I want to do is install Red Hat 9 on a Secondary Hard drive (60 gig) with Windows 98 also. I'm running a computer with Windows XP, and I think that the 60 gig might have xp on it already (It's been put up, not quite sure whats on it anymore) I was wondering if anybody could tell me what I need to do to be able to accomplish this. I've never used linux before, a friend of mine suggested it to me. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I think windows has a boot manager when you install multiple WIN OS's. so intstall your 98 disk on about 30 gig of the 60 gig HD. You will need to partition to do this, just leave 30 gig of unpartitiond space for the linux install or whatever you want. Once that is installed insert your linux CD and the grub bootloader will detect the previous windows installs and enable you to select them. If you install 98 and cant get to your XP partition dont worry as grub will enable this when you install linux. There may however be some configuration that need doing. But post back if that happens. -JAX |
