Need help setting up a static IP in Oracle Linux 6.4 on VMWare workstation
Hi,
I've installed Oracle Linux 6.4 on VMWare workstation 10. It is using DHCP. I would like to setup a static IP address and can't figure out how to do it. I am using a laptop with a wireless card. Does anyone know how to configure this? Thanks |

or a usb dongle VM's and built in wireless on laptops do not mix well. now a usb dongle, that is rather easy to set up reread the VM documentation on using built in wireless cards |
Hi TB0ne,
I've search many sites and tried many different configurations. The configuration that did work, prevented me from getting on the web. But I was able to see my other Linux VMs. Hi John VV, I didn't have any problems with setting up a static IP for a Windows VM. Would you know if this is specific to non-windows OS? I'll reread the VM doc on using built-in wireless cards. Thanks guys. |

Since both VMWare and Oracle Enterprise Linux are COMMERCIAL, pay-for products, you should be able to contact support for assistance. |
I am able to set up a static IP by using "Bridge...", instead of "NAT..." for the "Network Connection".
Thanks for your suggestions. |

Now that you mentioned it (about "bridging" in post#5), you're right. Thanks
