need help running dpkg --configure -a
I got a message saying that I need to run dpkg --configure -a manually so I did that now I got a message saying requested operation requires superuser privilage what does this mean and what do I do ?

If you're using Ubuntu, try sudo dpkg --configure -a and enter your user password. If you're using Debian or another distro, you need to open a root shell or type su and enter the root password.

I have been using sudo too, but I had to install it myself because I've been dist-upgrading since Woody. I haven't actually done a fresh install of Etch and wasn't sure if sudo was the default now. It wasn't on Sarge... :D |

the sudo thing worked great I've had this computer for 6 moths and couldnt download anything but that fixed it all and then sum!!! thanks:newbie: :)
