need help on checking if any back bad scripts are running


hi,
i am new to this forum..and i have just started working on LINUX. I need help on how to check if there are some bad scripts running on the server.

I am guessing you are on about rootkits here, I'd suggest trying something like downloading and running a tool like rkhunter that relates to the distribution that your server is running.

I did download rootkit hunter as well as chkrootkit. But i am not sure whether i should go ahead with these, Are these secure and trust-worthy?

The real versions are. Where did you download them from? Are they not available as packages in your distribution?
