Need Help installing RHEL 5


Please Help me!!
I have a copy of RHEL5 files in my hard disk. I copied the content of the DVD into my local disk. I am using vista and i then write the contents into a new DVD. Now when i try to install linux from the new dvd it does not boot. Is there any way to install linux??im using laptop so no floppy drive. I can just use a pen drive. Please give me possible solutions!

Welcome to LQ!!

Where did you get the original DVD and the files? Normally, you would want to simply copy the DVD to another one---I don't know what happens if you simply copy everything to your drive and then burn a new CD/DVD.

Why not boot with the original DVD?

actually i am doing a course on red hat . before we used to get the red hat dvd along with the book. but now there is no dvd. I need to practice at my home. so i asked one of my friends for his dvd. i copied his dvd contents into the hard disk. but now it does not install ,.is there any other way so that i can practice with red hat? any kind of emulator? thanks

As I said, the thing to do is copy the DVD directly.

You could also download and install CentOS, which is a free clone of RHEL.
