Need help installing Linux using Floppy

Hello, i wanted to install fedora core 5 on my old compaq presario 7360. My computer does not allow for boot from cd, and i just went and got myself a floppy drive for it yesterday. I heard that you can make some sort of floppy disks and start the setup through the floppy and then send it over to the cd. How do i do this? I really need to installl this linux OS soon. Please help me. How can i do this for Fedora Core 5 and or SUSE 10

I thought it was not possible with fc5, but the first hit while googling for fc5 floppy indicates that it can be done.

in the download section i could not find files to make the floppys. I found the sbminst.exe file, and when i double click on it, it runs and stops... i must be loosing my head.

OK, i launched the command prompt and ran the program from there instead of double clicking it, and it runs, but i cant figure out how to make the disks. Any ideas. I am not sure if i can make the floppies from windows xp....

Search for rawrite.
rawrite is usually a dos program, but this one seems to be a windows version; might be easier to use, not sure).

Next download fc5fd.tar.bz2 from http://www.thisiscool.com/fcfloppy.htm . I suppose you have to extract it and it will probably give you 6 files. Next you write each file to floppy using rawrite.
I don't know if your zip-utility can handle bz2 files. Here you can download bzip2.

PS I've never done it for FC, so not sure how it's working. Above instructions are from some reasoning.

my pc has 128 megs of ram, 10 gig hd and is running at 500 mhz. Do you think that it wiill be enough to run with full visuals, on FC5 website they said minimum requirements are 256 megs of ram.... any ideas.

Can't say for FC5. The only way to find out is by trying. Technically it should work, but it will not be the fastest if you use Gnome or KDE. Definitely consider using another window manager (window maker, xfce, ...). If you don't have a need for a GUI, your specs are OK.

From your initial post I understand that it has to be FC5. Any reason why ?
