Hi I've currently installed mandriva 2007 spring into my system and don't know how to protect my pc from viruses and hackers. Recently due to a malicious program attack all my e-mail addresses and other passwords have been compromised [I dont want that to happen again ]. I'm a newbie mandriva user and i want to know which antivirus software and firewall should i use to ensure total security of my system [i wud also lyk to knw about the sites from where i can download these softwares and also the installation procedures as much in details as possible]. Help is needed.

Linux generally doesn't need anti-virus, and has a firewall built in called iptables, you only need an anti-virus if you run a mail server. There are some graphical interfaces to iptables but I forget the names of them at this moment

The Mandriva Control Center has a utility for security settings and iptables firewall configuration. If that is not to your liking try
firestarter or guarddog which are popular graphical front-end utilities for iptables.
