Need Help... Every Distro Freezes
I work in IT at a bank and am quite proficient with windows, software, hardware, programming, bulding computers, etc... but have only fooled around with linux slightly. I have several distros as of late but none of them load on my PC. All of them say there is no problem detecting hardware and etc, but when they load the KDE Desktop, it freezes. Any ideas?

Are you albe to boot to a command prompt and work from there? Does everything work in another DE like GNOME? If so, then you might have found a KDE bug. The only other thing I notice is the nVIdia nForce chipset, which I've heard can be buggy under Linux.

i can't get to the command prompt either.
As for another DE, I've been booting off live CD's, so i only use the DE included... Yes I had heard that the chipset is buggy, so that is most likely the case. thank you |
