need guide in installing some drivers.

greetings everyone,
yesterday I have installed red hat linux in my HP Pavalion DV6114TX notebook computer, I need Conexant High Definition Audio Driver, but I am not getting it on internet, nvidia graphic card works properly after updating drives. even broadcom wifi doesnot work. and dvd even won't work.......
can any one suggest some solution of how make it work.

1.Audio: run alsamixer first to see if the channels are not muted by default. If not, check if the system recognises the card. If not, go to the ALSA website and you might want to reinstall alsa (all the instructions are on alsa website - find your card first)

2. broadcom: which model have you got: /sbin/lspci | grep Broadcom

3. For dvd playback, you'll need libdvdcss package.

4. If it is your desktop computer, you might be better off installing Fedora (or CentOS)

What version of RH are you running? IF it is RH and not RHEL, it is no longer supported (at least since 2004) and you need to update to RHEL or Centos if you cannot afford the RHEL license. Centos is RHEL with the logos removed, no paid support. It is free to download and update.

I am using RHEL ver 3 for x86 architecture.
got red colored pack of 7 cd's of them 1-4 are used for installation.
i am not sure about 5,6 and 7.
it is purchased in india. mumbai......

My main aim is programming openGL, device driver and embedded system programming using linux.....

OK, IF you did not purchase a RHEL license (lots of $) you will not be able to update any of your packages on the system. If you did purchance the license call RH that is what you are paying for. Since RHEL3 is pretty old there are a ton of things (sound) that are going to need a lot of work just to get to work. Centos is RHEL with the logos removed. It is free to download and update. The current version of RHEL/Centos is 5.2. Most of your hardware should just work out of the box with the newer version. Any book for RHEL is also a book for Centos.
