need glib 1.2.2

(mandrake 9.1, kde 3.1.0)

so.. i'm trying to install bump_scope-0.0.3 (a visual enhancement plugin for XMMS)...

i unpack the bump_scope-0.0.3.tar.gz file, and in konsole i type:

it does whatever it does, and ends with:
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.2... no
*** The glib-config script installed by GLIB could not be found
*** If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to glib-config.
configure: error: *** GLIB >= 1.2.2 not installed - please install first ***

so i go to, download glib-1.2.10-11mdk.src.rpm and in konsole type:
[root@gunigugu rpms]# rpm -i glib-1.2.10-11mdk.src.rpm
[root@gunigugu rpms]#
..and it does nothing..

bump_scope still wont install..

what am i missing?

errrm, GLIB 1.2.xx

the RPM you downloaded is a source RPM that you use to compile RPMs for your distro.
you don't want that
the easiest thing to do is to install gnome from your mandrake CDs
glib is part of GTK (the Gnome ToolKit)

Gnome is installed.. if i logout i can (and have tried) choose Gnome and it runs just fine..

how would i go about installing GLIB 1.2.xx from konsole?
it might not be the easiest way as u say, but at least it will give some training..
