Need English Phonetic Key Board for Kannada Language

Seasons Greetings

I am using Linux Mint 7, SCIM configured to use Kannada as one of the languages. How ever one is required to go through a steep learning curve to get familiarised to use the inscript layout for Kannada. I did try installing scim-m17n translation plugin but could not succeed. KaGaPa and Inscript are the only two availabe. Can any one suggest me how to obtain a Phonetic Key Board for Kannada. Thank you.
