Need assistance with adding a HP C6100 Printer

I just installed Zorin OS 9 on a Toshiba laptop. I am trying to add a wireless HP C6100 printer and not having any luck. I noticed that when I take the option to add I see both a WORKGROUP and workgroup listed.

The other 2 pc's on this home network are using Windows 7. Do I need to configure the Zorin laptop to be on the same Workgroup to resolve the issue? Also is the HP C6100 supported?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

I know little about Zorin OS, but a quick search shows that it is based on Ubuntu. Anyway, there is HPLIP support for this printer. I can only only offer general advice as I don't use either distro.

I have the following PPDs available

hp-photosmart_c6100_series-hpijs.ppd.gz (corresponding to basic foomatic-rip printer driver)
hp-photosmart_c6100_series-hpijs.ppd.gz (corresponding to more advanced hpcups printer driver)

I believe the first is supplied by the 'hpijs-ppds' package. For the second, you'll probably need to install HPLIP

Hope that's enough to get you started.

Further clarification is needed here. If the printer is network attached (wired or wireless), then workgroups don't come into it. However, if the printer is locally-attached (usb) to a windows machine, then you'll need to define as a shared printer (and reach it using the samba, IPP, or LPD protocols).

If it really is network attached, it should be possible to set up using
Code:

hp-setup
*You'll need hplip installed first though.
