Need application suggestions

Hi All,

I now have my website up and running w/ Linux/apache! Woohoo! thx to all that helped!

Now, i want to customize things a bit in which I am using Dreamweaver to tweak my home page...no problem there. right now, i am sharing out my mp3's to friends through http. So when they go through my site, they browse through 'indexing'...it looks kind of stupid.

So i might want to set up an FTP server under Linux. How do I do this?

Also, i want to have a forum and a chat program that will work with Linux....what ones are the best/easiest out there?

Thx for all who reply!!!

Quick noobie question - i have my linux web server up....can it run non-linux apps...like forums that work with xp and stuff? For instance, this forum looks pretty cool...is this a linux forum program running on a Linux server?

Yes, this forum is most definately running on a linux machine. One forum software thats very similar to this one and is really easy to use is PHPBB:
