Need advice installing Knoppix to a USB flash drive...
 

Hi, I am looking to install Knoppix to a flash drive I have. I am technically not a newbie doing this really but I want to see what might be the best method to use for this.

Previously, I've of course tried Unetbootin which is fine, but I am assuming it treats any distro as a live disk so I am wondering would it capture any changes I make to Knoppix?

I also know Knoppix has its own method for installing to USB but I've never tried that I don't think. But if its anything like its install to a HD, it requires a Reiser and Reiser just takes forever to read/write to it seems.

And then the other ways I've used a Flash drive is just partitioning it like a hard drive and installing from there but I will never do that again because any software you install, once downloaded it takes FOREVER to read/write to the flash disk. I assume this is just because of the flash drive capabilities only allow for a 2MB/s tranfer.

So anyone have any other ideas of the best way to install Knoppix to a USB or can anyone add to any of the ways I've already mentioned? Plus i know Knoppix uses on-the-fly compression which doesn't speed things up any for sure.

I've installed Knoppix in the past on a USB key, always using the nifty program included in the LiveCD. It's easy, fast and works. After first boot (if I recall correct) you can opt to define a 'persistent' space so that your changes can be saved across boots. Since it always did the trick, I haven't tried any other solution.
