need a noob proof distro
hi all
I cannot find a linux distro that works with my hardware, and any attempts I make to change them end up in a broken operating system. (even when following instructions) (thats why I am posting from a live cd) so if anyone knows of a stable noob proof linux distro that will work with a modern nvidia card please let me know stripe |
Pclinux is one of the best for starters. I would say try that out. What do you mean "that works", which have you tried and how don't they work?

Any cutting edge distro like Ubuntu, Mint, or Fedora should work fine. Just run the default driver and stop trying to fiddle with the Nvidia proprietary drivers if that's what's causing the issues you're having.

As I stated in one of your previous threads, keep one distro and let us help you to work out the problems. Distro hopping will most likely not solve your problem.
To help us to help you, please open a new thread for your graphics problem, including the following information: - Which distro are you using (I would recommend to start with the one you are posting from now, since it seems to work with your hardware)? - Which hardware do you have exactly: CPU, amount of RAM, exact type of video card? - What have you tried already, be as exact as possible? - Which error messages did you get exactly? I am pretty sure that we can help you with your problems, just give us something we can work with. |
