Nebee Alert! Exim4 Setup Help!! Very Important!!

Right now I'm trying to setup the exim4 client on my Debian Linux machine. I can't for the life of me get this configured. I do not want this machine to receive e-mail but I do need it to send e-mail via SMTP through my exchange server.

I have already created the user properties in the server, but I can't get the linux machine configured. Please Help.

I keep getting the following error when I run the dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config:

2008-06-26 10:48:56 Exim configuration error in line 701 of /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated.tmp:
authenticator name missing
Invalid new configfile /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated.tmp
not installing /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated.tmp to

Did you manually edit one of the configuration files enabling an authenticator method but not provide all the info it needs for that method, and now the configuration script is not able to complete.

If it were me, I would wipe the config files regenerate the default configs and try again from scratch..

man update-exim4.conf
man exim4-config_files
man exim

Really what it sounds like you are looking for is a default configuration of Exim4 using a Smarthost (exchange) with no local delivery.

OH and btw, Do NOT mark threads as Urgent, Important, etc.. it's only urgent for you, the rest of us are volunteers. Many people better suited than me to answer your question may have skipped it entirely due to the thread topic.
